Upcoming Touareg V6 TDI

The upcoming Touareg should be pretty nice and with a price starting at ~$42k it should be a little bit easier on the pocketbook and Fuel than the V10 TDI Touareg of the past. At this price point it looks to be cheaper than the GL Diesel from Mercedes. Read the review here.

My other brother's 06 Cam wear pictures (Scrichy84)

Well we got my other brother (scrichy84)'s car up here and pulled the valve cover on it, another 06 car like mine but his head was cast in Poland instead of Germany like mine. He has been using 507.00 oil since his 20k service. His first 2 services were done by Jack Scoville VW in Corvallis, OR using most likely NOT 505.01 oil (Listed on the invoice as Castrol synthetic oil CW at a cost of $24.70) Most of his cam lobes look good except the #3 exhaust lobe.

Words to remember.

I found a quote today on VWVortex that I really liked.

A fellow Dubber is broken down on the side of the road
MK1: stops and offers to help, and the use of the many tools you carry in the car.
MK2: same offer of help...less tools in the car
MK3: may or may not stop to help, but definitely no tools in the car
MK4: drives by revving the motor and hoping the kapooosh valve makes a cool noise.

My brother's Cam inspection.

At the same time my cam lobe inspection was done we also pulled my brothers valve cover on his 2005.5. His cam lobes were not quite in the pristine condition that mine are.

43000 Mile Cam lobe inspection on the Jetta

There is a lot of talk going on about issues with the Intake and Exhaust lobes on the camshaft in the 2006 Jetta having very premature wear issues, in light of this I decided to pull my valve cover to inspect my camshaft. I have been using Elf solaris 507.00 oil since my 5k mile service in my car. Here is the link to the Thread over at TDIClub and below are the pics.

Tiguan TDI

I came across this video on YouTube and I thought that I would share. I hope VW decides to bring these to the US sometime in the near future. I wouldn't mind looking into one as my next TDI.

Diesel Roadster anyone?

VW keeps coming out with nice looking diesel concepts like this one the VW BlueSport that made a debut at the Detroit Auto Show, now they need to bring some of them to the US market for VW Diesel fans like us. If you would like read more about this fine looking Eco-roadster Click Here.

My past Diesel VW's

I thought I would post some pictures of my past Diesel VW cars and trucks. First off is the 1982 Pickup that I bought from my brother. We had put a pre 1981 rebuilt 1.5 liter diesel in this truck but later found all of the head gasket issues that the 1.5 liter diesels had as well as oil return issue. All of these issues were corrected in mid-81 on the 1.6 liter when Torque to yield bolts were added to them as well as a larger oil return.

The next VW diesel I bought was a $500 2 door German built rabbit that I found on craigslist, when I went to go look at this car it actually turns out that I knew the guy that owned it and he was very happy that I was the one that was buying this car from him. The Motor in this car was built by Dan Hall automotive in Portland, OR that normally build race motors. I drove this car an hour each way to and from college for my final year, and this motor is now currently in my 1981 rabbit truck. I wish I had some pictures of this car before I took the motor out for my truck.

In 2007 I found my wife a wonderful 2001 Beetle TDI with Leather that she absolutely loved, but shortly after we found out that my wife was pregnant with our second child so the Beetle wasn't going to cut it size wise for her. This was a very nice car though, and we really enjoyed driving it while we had it. Mabye
someday we will buy another when car seats are out of the picture.

A new TDI in the family.

This is my older brother Ryan's new to him 2005.5 TDI Jetta. It is a package 1 car, but because it is an 05.5 it has a few goodies that my 06 Package 2 car didn't come with including rain sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, and auto dimming rear view mirror. If you look at the front of his car you may notice that it has a different front facia than the standard TDI, This front bumper and grill are usually found on an R32 Rabbit (Golf). The Wheels are chrome plated 18" Audi A6 wheels.

Looks like we may be Getting The more compact VW Polo in the US

If this is true it will be great, the Polo is more a compact car like the Rabbit (Golf) was when it was introduced in the US back in 1974. This will be even better news if they are going to offer a TDI option in the polo as it will get 50+ MPG much easier than the current generation Jetta TDI. Read for yourself. Here's the Link
